Lead Farrier and Manager Phillipp Jansen, and Company Owner Eli Rye.
We understand that the relationship between horse owner and farrier is one of trust. Phillipp Jansen:
Phillipp is an exceptional Farrier and a vital asset to the 3rd Day team. Originally from Stadthagen, Germany he has been doing Farrier work for over 10 years. Training under a master farrier in Visselhövede, Germany as well as his many years of shoeing our endurance horses here at 3rd Day has equipped him with the foundation to be excellent at his work.
Phillipp has the knowledge and experience required to work on the highest level of performance horses. Having successfully owned and run his own business in Germany, “Have Shoes Will Travel” with a client base of 400 horses, he is a very well rounded farrier who has worked on almost every breed of every size at every age.
Phillipp’s gifting goes far beyond the ability to properly trim and balance a hoof. He is passionate about working with horses with medical problems and using therapeutic –
shoeing/trimming methods to help them. Phillipp is always striving to learn and using the most innovative shoeing methods available to help horses with extreme foot care needs. He is an exceptionally patient person who truly cares about the wellbeing of your horse.
Along with Eli Rye (owner of 3rd Day Endurance), Phillipp is now overseeing the expansion of 3rd Day Farrier Services from just our own horses out into southern Ontario’s equestrian world.

Eli Rye is 33 years old and Owner of 3rd Day Endurance. His wife, Laura Rye, runs the training and horse starting services our farm provides.
Eli has been doing the Farrier work on the majority of the 50 horses we have on our farm for many years. His expertise started with balancing our competitive endurance horses feet and fitting shoes, and now composite shoes, to go the distance. In the past winters he has flown to Florida to do our horses’ feet while we are south competing in the United States during the winter months – But this coming Winter, Atlanta Texas will be his destination at our new winter farm!!
Now with having Phillipp on board we are very pleased to be able to offer this farrier service to outside clients. Travel is not an issue, but outside a 50km radius of Hockley Valley Ontario, a travel surcharge will apply.
